The Western Michigan team went 5-7 in 2022 and that wasn’t enough for Tim Lester to keep his job, and the underlying metrics probably prove that the athletic department made the right decision. Both the offense and defense fell off big time from the 2021 season and it seems time for a refreshing outlook to the program. There just wasn’t a part of the offense or defense that really was any good in 2022 and with a new staff and portal challenges, it likely will be a bit of a rebuild under a new identity.
