The MAC Champions won the conference with a defense that turned up when they needed it and an offense that did just enough to get them over the hump. Starting QB Dequan Finn battled some injuries down the stretch, but ultimately they got to the Championship game and were able to rely on the defense to get them the win. As you can see in the SRX+ chart, the D had a tendency to outperform, especially down the stretch of the season and in conference. The O wasn’t awful, but they rarely outperformed expectation and this is the 3rd year in a row that the offense has fallen off in overall rank.
