The Expected Success Rate chart probably tells a bit of a different story vs that of the wins and losses. In Maurice Linguist second season, he got the Bulls to a 7-6 overall record, including a bowl win and finished 2nd in their MAC division. I think it’s a pretty good achievement given the 2021 season was a mess with a late hire + a ton of transfers. Looking at the schedule, they would certainly want to have back the Holy Cross game, but otherwise, they couldn’t have been too upset with how their season progressed outside of maybe a late season loss to Kent State. They knocked off Toledo and went on a nice win streak heading into the bye winning 5 in a row, 4 in the conference.
